RockBlades - Bulletproofbodies get Certified with RockTape

Last weekend the Bulletproofbodies Team were on the Rockblades Course getting certified with Osteopath Mike Grice, at Active Health in Manchester.

We have been using Rockblades for years but it was finally time to get certified.

Rockblades are the future of IASTM (Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Massage).

Every detail of RockBlades—each edge, angle, and contour, was carefully cultivated and refined over the course of two years.

RockBlades are comprised of two precision-engineered and manufactured soft-tissue instruments: a surgical-grade stainless steel “Mallet” and thermo-plastic polymide “Mullet,” accompanied by a 100% natural RockRub emollient and sanitising wipes to form a complete, turn-key IASTM system.

RockBlades are sold as a complete IASTM solution - 1 Mallet, 1 Mullet, a 50g RockRub Jar and a pack of sanitizing wipes. They're housed in a reusable docking station made of high quality plastic that can be washed and used to store the tools for use and display.

The Mallet

Honed from surgical-grade stainless steel, the Mallet is the ultimate in-clinic tool. Hand-polished treatment surfaces, combined with a perfectly balanced and weighted core make tissue scanning and treatment a breeze. Matte-finished dimples—four on each side—combined with a patented "brass knuckle" style handle enables practitioners to hold the tool six different ways. Every side is unique - both in shape and edge radius. The non-treatment faces of the Mallet are laser-etched with RockTape's awesome manifesto design.

The Mullet

The “Mullet” is a lightweight tool designed to be portable, allowing practitioners to deliver superior soft-tissue manipulation wherever their patients may be. The Mullet is crafted from an incredibly durable thermo-plastic polyamide—the same material is used in high-performance automotive and aerospace applications. The Mullet features four distinct edges, providing comprehensive treatment capabilities and its quirks include a functioning bottle opener. The non-treatment faces of the Mullet are chemically-etched with RockTape's awesome manifesto design.

The Mohawk

The "Mohawk" is a revolutionary system featuring 3 tools in one, Mohawk enables you to treat a wide range of pain, mobility and neurological issues with one precision-crafted stainless steel tool and two unique, patent-pending attachments.

But beyond the certificate was some amazing teaching and sharing of techniques.
Combined with an excellent handout containing some great pictures and messages.

People on the course were from a mixture of backgrounds from Physiotherapy, Sports Rehabilitation, Sports Therapy and Massage Therapy.
Basically, all from the big Therapy family.

How To Tape Your Hands With RockTape For 19.2

So, 19.2 it’s a repeat of 16.2.

That means 25 Toes to Bar on repeat.

The Smart Athletes are going to Bulletproof themselves by using Rocktape to save their hands.

Over the many years we at Bulletproofbodies have been treating Athletes, it seems the girls are always better at preparing than the guys.

It's quite simple,

"Tape it before you break it!"

RockTape turns down the volume on pain.

More specifically, it runs interference on pain.

Ever whack your shin and rub it, and suddenly realize you feel better?
RockTape on the skin can interfere with painful signals which are directed to the brain.
When the signals arriving to the brain are altered, it does not produce the sensation of pain.
When kinesiology tape is properly applied, many of our customers call it “magic” or think that it fixed their injury instantly. In fact, it helps to change how your body interprets pain, turning down the pain “volume” that your body hears.

Decompresses an area of swelling and inflammation

When RockTape is applied to the skin, it has a microscopic lifting effect underneath the skin and between the many layers. This allows the by-products created by inflammation to be removed more quickly.

It delays fatigue

Research has shown that RockTape on skin can attenuate muscle fatigue. In rehab, this is very important, not only for the parts of your body that are currently hurting, but also for the surrounding areas as they help to pick up the slack for muscles that are currently not working well.

It normalizes muscle tone

When someone is injured, fatigued, sick, or inflamed, the symphony of muscle action that normally takes place with great accuracy often falls out of tune. This can happen all over the body. For instance, research has shown that people who sprain their ankle tend to have altered activity of their hip muscle as a result. RockTape helps bring dormant muscle back to life and help calm down the overactive muscles. It helps your body coordinate movement as if it weren’t hurt, hence allowing it to heal properly.

It distributes physical stress

Unlike conventional taping, which prevents movement – RockTape allows full movement of a taped area. Through elastic properties and quick recoil, RockTape can help distribute forces to other nearby areas through the fascia, ligaments, and even bones.

Rocktape & The Rainhill Trials

The Rainhill Trials are a CrossFit competition run by the team at TRAIN.

I have the pleasure of performing Physiotherapy on these athletes which also includes injury prevention.

By the time they get to the end of the day there is normally a WOD with either Pull Ups, Muscle Ups or Toes to Bar.

All of which can rip your hands to shreds.

So at the Rocktape tent we like to “tape it before you break it.”

Stick Mobility - The New Way to Train

Stick Mobility

Last weekend my buddy, Rock Doc Rob demonstrated stick mobility at the Rainhill Trials in Manchester.

This was a huge success and attracted a lot of interest.

I have also had lots of questions this week about "Stick Mobility."

You think it's going to be easy, you are wrong!

Stick Mobility is a revolutionary system designed to help you move better than you ever have and take your performance to the next level.

The human body is meant to move well and often.

Stick Mobility's goal is to help unlock and strengthen the areas of your body needed to access your full potential.

Stick Mobility is simple, effective, and all you need is a stick!

The fact that the stick flexes is the key to making this exercise tool unique.

The stick provides the all important external cue:

"Push the stick into the ground."

Mobility, Stability, Motor Control.

The next available course is the 3rd of June in London.

The following Bulletproofbodies discount code gives a 10% discount on all Sticks and Sticks Education so can be used for one of our Workshops too:

RAINHILL TRIALS & BULLETPROOFBODIES - November 2017

The Rainhill Trials at Sport City in Manchester has become the home for your

first CrossFit Competition.

The event is run by TRAIN Manchester who have three boxes in the Manchester area:

Train 1 - Castleford

Train 2 – Media City

Train 3 – Heald Green

The Saturday is more for those that are new to competition.

The Sunday is for those who are more competent at CrossFit.

Although the Workouts are very similar there is a big difference between doing Chest to bar pull ups or normal kipping pull ups.

The same with Toes to Bar and Ab Mat sit ups.

However, what this does is allow athletes to scale when there is a movement that they can no longer do. Or, could not do in the first place.

Competition will always bring out the best in us. But it will also expose our weaknesses.

As always there are injuries at the weekend. However, as usual these injuries are acute, mild and minor, responding well to Physiotherapy and Rocktape UK were there to scrape and tape as part of the athlete services.

This weekend’s Injuries included:

      Hand tape x 12

      Shoulder x 8

      Wrist  x 5

      Low Back x 4

      Knee x 4

      Calf x 3

      Biceps x 2

      Cervical Spine x 1

      Trapezius Tear x 1

      Shin splints x 1

      Ankle x 1

It was great to see Tom Blay from Reebok CrossFit 3D competing.

He is a machine and my Coach!

An amazing weekend of CrossFit.

Well done to all competitors and for TRAIN for there superb organisation.

The Bulletproofbodies team salute you.
