Physio for Dolomite's Expedition 2019

Last week Dale from Bulletproofbodies had the pleasure of being the Physio on an Army Expedition to the Dolomites in Italy.

Naturally, when you take a Physio with your expedition they add significant value in many different ways.

They are an expert in Musculo-Skeletal injury able to provide injury prevention, treatment and management throughout the expedition.

As well as taking a stretching session after a day of hill walking.

There is lots of opinion about stretching and injury prevention and it appears that there is a lack of scientific evidence to support this.

However, when I go out on the hills I always stretch afterwards as this helps my body to recover and feel better post exercise.

I ran Yoga classes every day for those on the expedition and they all reported the benefits of feeling less stiff and painful the next day. Plus it is also a great group activity that gets everyone involved.

In addition to basic stretching and Yoga, I also use a Compex with aid with recovery.

The most common type of injury when climbing or walking up and down mountains is an over-use injury.

This typically manifests as lateral knee pain, particularly when going down hill, carrying a back pack.

This will be later diagnosed as ITB Compression syndrome.

There is no way to stretch the ITB but you can influence the lateral chain, by performing a body stretch to the side.

But this best way I have found to keep ITB under control  is to roll.

Or Pulseroll to be more precise.

CROSSFIT GAMES 2019 HIGHLIGHTS

So, are you over it yet?

The CrossFit Games remains the same.

Mat Fraser and Tia-Clair and Team Mayhem Freedom are our champions once again.

An amazing result for Norway's Kristin Holte coming 2nd at the Games.

It was very sad to see that there was little media coverage for the Masters or Teen divisions.

So what about the UK?

Huge congratulations to Reece Mitchell for coming an amazing 4th Fittest Teenager in the world.

Team JST Compete came an outstanding 10th in the Team competition.

The UK's Elliot Simmonds came 37th in the Men's competition.

Sam Briggs came 18th in the Women's competition.

It may be hard to believe but The CrossFit Open is only weeks away.

Gulp! - Workout 20.1 will be announced on October 10th.

Is your body Bulletproof?

Bulletproofbodies & Battle Cancer Manchester 2019

Battle Cancer Manchester 2019 at Victoria Warehouse was another amazing success.

Host to their first ever Battle Cancer comp back in 2017, Victoria Warehouse will always hold a special place in all our hearts.

A dramatic and historic landmark with a raw and urban edge, we can’t think of anywhere better to hold our Manchester events.

Dark and moody, the comp floor is overlooked by a first floor balcony with plenty of space to set up camp for the day and a stellar view of the action.

Five minutes from legendary Old Trafford and just a tram ride away from Manchester’s city centre.

Battle Cancer is a mass-participation fitness competition that raises money for cancer charities across the world.

They fundraise for family and friends, to celebrate those that have fought and won, and in memory of those we have lost.

Battle Cancer is, and always will be, accessible and open. No qualifiers, no waiting lists. Regardless of strength or skill, we embrace anyone that can get involved, raise awareness and battle cancer with pride.

In fact, for many of our athletes, Battle Cancer is their first ever competition. If you can move, you can fight.

Dale from Bulletproofbodies was proud to provide Physio for Athlete Services at this prestigious event.

It was great to see both Scott and Pete who organise Battle Cancer and hear about all the other events that are now in so many different countries.

A big thank you to all the Athletes who came to see me and get some expert treatment.
